A hybrid hypercar unlike any other Image

A hybrid hypercar unlike any other. A two-seat roadster frame made almost entirely out of carbon fibre, which contains two electric motors and a 4.6-Litre racing V8 with 9,000rpm. This four-wheel-drive hypercar accelerates 0-62 in a blistering 2.5 seconds, this being made possible by its 875bhp and an even more staggering 944lb ft of torque, it is capable or reaching a top speed of 214mph. all that being said it really will average 30mpg. Furthermore, the fantastic 918 can lap the famous Nürburgring race track in under 7 minutes. The 918 Spyder is a masterpiece of engineering that combines the very best of hybrid technology with motorsport ancestry.

Development began in 2010 and over the course of 3 years Porsche built 25 prototypes before the assembly or the 918 production cars, in the UK it was listed at £781,000 including tax when it first landed on the market. which as time has now shown was worth every penny with many 918’s currently listed at over £1,300,000.

It’s impossible to talk about the Porsche 918 Spyder without comparing it with McLaren’s P1 and of course Ferrari’s LaFerrari, the trio making up the so-called holy trinity of hypercars. The Porsche is often viewed as the most understated of the three and it is certainly the cheapest but, in many ways, it is by far the most impressive. It has the most useable hybrid mode and yet also has the most spine-tingling soundtrack when its naturally aspirated 4.6-litre V8 kicks in, although the 918 is the least powerful and heaviest it also has, by some margin, the most torque. In short, we absolutely love the 918 Spyder. While the spec sheet suggests the McLaren P1 is faster, in the real world, the Porsche's incredible traction makes sure things are that little bit tighter. Throttle response and the engine's exploitability help the Porsche stand out from the rest. Cars in this league are hard to describe as bargains, but compared to the P1 and LaFerrari, the 918 offers the most for the money and in our opinion the clear winner out of the three.
